Elias Naphausen is research associate at the Hybrid Things Lab and PhD candidate.
After completing a technical vocational training, he studied interactive media (BA) and interactive media systems (MA) at the Augsburg Technical University of Applied Sciences. After his studies, he worked independently as a web designer and as a media exhibit designer at an agency. In collaboration with THA and Bauhaus University Weimar, he conducts research in a practice-led doctoral project on the audible presence of machines. His particular interest in sound design accompanied him throughout his studies and is especially evident in his thesis projects. Together with Prof. Robert Rose, he initiated the Klanglabor at THA.
His design practice combines artistic and research-oriented approaches, addressing future-relevant questions about the relationship between humans, technology, and the environment.
His works are showcased at various exhibitions and festivals (Chaos Computer Congress, xCoAx, lab30, MS Wissenschaft).
