What if robots were used for an activity that is uttlerly human: playing ? In a workshop centred around the theme of Arcade Games, students developed projects, that integrated game mechanics (such as scoring, timing, movement control) into robotic interactions.
The students worked with two collaborative robot arms: they first learned about how to control a robot and then how to add peripherals: how to wire input devices such as a button or a joystick, and output device like a light or a buzzer. These external devices were used to control the robot and act alongside the robot’s movements.
Working in small groups, the robots were used to create interactive arcade experiences, ranging from recreating existing concepts to inventing new interactive experiences.
Thanks to Andrea Anner for this fantastic and inspiring workshop!
