Olya Toltinova studied Information Design (B.A.) at the Polytechnic University of Peter the Great in Saint-Petersburg and Interactive Media Systems (M.A.) at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. Currently, she lives and works in Augsburg.
Previous to her work as a research assistant at the Augsburg Technical University of Applied Sciences at the Hybrid Things Lab she was creating media art films, digital artworks, and conceptual solutions for interactive informative installations. Olya explores connections between interaction methods, human-machine interface design, and the perception of digital artefacts present in our lives. She is inspired by the potential of natural materials and haptic sensations in enriching the digital experiences coming in everyday interactions with devices.
Her works and collaborations were presented in such locations and events as MediaArt Festival, Russian Art Week, Chancelaria, Artmuse, and lab30.
