The textile industry is a central part of our everyday lives, but it also presents numerous ecological and social challenges. Project TexTiles addresses this topic and invites visitors to engage interactively with the interrelationships of textile production.
TexTiles is a collaboration project with the State Textile and Industry Museum Augsburg (tim). It will be introduced as part of the permanent exhibition of the museum, which is an important multiplier for sustainability education. With over 100,000 visitors per year, including numerous school classes, it offers the ideal setting for an innovative educational experience.
The new exhibit will allow visitors to make various production decisions using physical "Tiles" and understand the effects in real time. This gamified approach brings complex interrelationships to life and supports young people in making informed consumer decisions and developing an awareness of the circular economy in the textile industry.
Implemented in collaboration with tim by the two teams of the THA's Education & Learning Lab for Sustainability Innovations (ELLSI) and Hybrid Things Lab, it strives to contribute knowledge in the areas of science communication, human-technology interaction, and sustainability.
The project receives financing from the Volkswagen Foundation as part of the funding line "Ideas Competition: Circularity in Everyday Life."
We sincerely thank the Volkswagen Foundation and look forward to making a contribution to education for sustainable development with TexTiles.
